In 1853 Chikutō authored a picture album entitled Chikutō Shikunshi Gafu (i.e., Chikutō’s Picture Album of the Four Paragons). It included the sixteen woodblock-printed pictures of flowers shown below. Click on a picture to enlarge it. Chikutō drew the shapes of his flower subjects accurately but he colored them only in shades of gray.
